Important Changes & Things To Remember For Oklacon 2008

With Oklacon less than a month away we thought it was important to let our attendees know some important information about changes to the con this year, and other things to remember leading up to the con.

  • If you have a cabin reserved, all deposits are due by October 1st. If we do not receive your deposit by this date, your cabin will be given to the next person on the waiting list. If there is no one else on the waiting list, the cabin will then be released to the public. To make your deposit or inquire about the waiting list please email us at abryerson@msn.com.

  • Attention Artists and Dealers! The deadline for getting a submission into the Art Show, or application in for the Dealers Den is October 1st. After October 1st we will no longer be accepting applications or submissions for either.

  • Parking will no longer be at the Turkey Roost as it has in the past. Turkey Roost parking will now be reserved for staff and disabled attendees. Attendee parking will now be located at the Roman Nose Lodge, and other areas around the park. Look for signs to direct you to proper places to park, or ask a staff member.

  • Due to new parking arrangements for this year, you will no longer be able to park your RV outside the Turkey Roost. If bringing an RV make sure you get a space, and call Roman Nose State Park at (580) 623-4215 and mention you are with Oklacon, and keep in mind the state park does charge a $8 daily parking fee.

  • Lodge rooms are filling up, so if you don't want to stay in an A-Frame, tent, or have a cabin or RV, make sure to get your room now! Rooms are only $63 a night! To reserve your room call the Roman Nose State Park Lodge at (580) 623-7281 and tell them you are with Oklacon.

So please keep those items in mind in the upcoming weeks as you prepare for the country's only outdoor furry convention, Oklacon! We look forward to you joining us for Oklacon 6 Mark of the Beast!!

Just to let you all see what’s in store for Oklacon 2008 we have posted the preliminary schedule we are working on for Oklacon 2008. Note as I said, this is preliminary and times and events are subject to change and probably will. The schedule can be viewed here.

You may notice that there are a few new areas that are new to Oklacon this year’s schedule, such as the “Black Coyote Room” which is the large event room in the park’s lodge, “The Beast Row” which is the restaurant inside the park’s lodge, and for the first time ever a 24 Hour Artist Alley which will be in one of the A-Frames.

So check it out and we look forward to seeing you at Oklacon 2008: Mark of the Beast!!

Jeff Goode To Be Guest of Honor For Oklacon 2008!

Introducing, Jeff Goode!
Jeff Goode is the creator of the widely popular "American Dragon: Jake Long" animated series on the Disney Channel. Jeff is not new to the furry scene, in fact this will be his third furry convention he has attended. Expect to have lots of fun, and probably a new radio play hosted by the man himself.

We Want You For Oklacon 2008! Staff, Volunteers, and Attendees Needed!

Oklacon 2008 wants you! Oklacon is now taking applications for both staff and volunteers for this year. Oklacon 2008 promises to be our best yet, taking the momentum we gained from last year and letting it grow. However, in order for this con to grow we need help and lots of it.

If you would like to lend a paw please fill out the staff application here. Keep in mind we still need help for hospitality, kitchen, and security.

Also don't forget even if you aren't on staff or volunteering we still need you, because Oklacon would be nothing without it's wonderful attendees, so if you haven't yet, be sure to Pre-Register here. We look forward to seeing you at Oklacon 2008!
